Laurie is the Executive Director of BDO's Institute for Nonprofit Excellence and the Managing Partner for assurance services in the Greater Washington, DC market, She has over 25 years of experience providing audits and advisory services to the nonprofit industry in all subsegments. Through her role in the Institute she supports the firm's holistic approach to serving the needs of industry professionals and guides the strategy of the thought leadership contained in the firm's quarterly newsletter, BDO Nonprofit Standards, the blog, webinar series and annual benchmarking survey, BDO Standards, A Benchmarking Survey. She is a regular speaker at internal and external seminars on topics including accounting practices and internal controls of nonprofit organizations, governance issues, single and compliance audits, leadership development and diversity and inclusion. Laurie was awarded one of the2013 Women to Watch Awards by the Greater Washington Society of CPAs for her contributions to the profession.
